Update – November 2024: Steady Progress, Bold Vision

Murabit Project Update (November 2024).
Attached is our income and expenditure for the month of November.
We raised GHS 1,000 in the month of November. We had a balance of GHS 1,349.40 from September, making a total income of GHS 2,349.40. Then we spent GHS 1,564.97 in November.
Therefore, by the end of November, we had a balance of GHS 784.43.
That means since we started (Incorporated) the Social Mercy Foundation on the 23rd August 2022, we have raised a total of GHS 67,068.00 and spent GHS 66,283.57, leaving a balance of GHS 784.43.
Out of the 67,068.00 raised so far, 47,263.00 (70%) came from our personal funds and 19,805.00 (30%) came from support we got from people who share our dream. All these funds have gone into our flagship project Murabit Project.
We also had a lot of supports that no be “money” specific but can be equally quantified. For example, the MP for Dormaa East, Hon Paul supported us with paint when we were painting the Habitat Study center. During the launch in December last year, Kwabena GNTC, the Assembly member for AB, did not charge a dime when we hired his instruments (kumkum chaska kumkum).
Next year God willing, we intend to make the Murabit Project even more impactful (build 3 additional study centers), and also start the WAM Heritage Project. With this new project, we intend to bring into existence, all memories of Dormaa East. Thus, we will convert all stories, history, social activities, etc into books, audios, videos, etc. This will serve as content for the Murabit Project. A child in Wamfie should also be reading about Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II or Nana Ansu Agyei, and not just Queen Elizabeth II or George Washington. It is good for children in Wamfie to read about McDonalds but it is equally inportant for them to read about Aunty Mensah who has spent more than 30 years of hear live in the Banku business in Wamfie. The end goal is: At least 50% of books the children will be reading in the 200 study centers, must be local content.
Another key benefit of the Wam Heritage Project is that,, it will serve as as source of revenue to sustain the Murabit Project. Because once that project becomes successful, we will be able to sell the materials across the country or even outside Ghana.
The Wam Heritage Project is also a means to preserve our history, culture, etc for generations unborn.
I believe there will be a lot of other benefits too, which we can’t think of now.
Thank you all for your support. Next year is another big challenge. We will need about 100K to execute what we plan to do. We are already neck-deep into the vision. We are not backtracking.
The vision remains the same: To make Dormaa East the most literate constituency in Ghana by 2042, at an estimated cost of 2 million US dollars. We will achieve this by building 200 study centres across the constituency where children Learn to Know, Learn to Innovate, and Learn to Succeed. We currently have 2 study centres and have acquired land for the third one.
With your support, I strongly believe we will be able to achieve this.
In sha’Allah!
Thank you Del Piero Alawu for the update.
